RAF Lakenheath

Chester St, Lakenheath, Brandon IP27 9PS, UK – 01638 521110

I was stationed there from 77-79. I loved the place. Great people both on and off the base. Easy travel to anywhere in Europe by train. I would serve there again in a heartbeat.

At the end of the runway, at the public viewing area. Too far away to see any buildings close up or any of the WWII era buildings which is my interest here but this area is ideal to see aircraft coming in to land and i'm sure it will be spectacular when that happens but on this visit there was no aero activity. My first visit to Lakenheath and even though nothing was happening except a chap releasing a bird of prey the aerodrome is well kept and huge and good to see a WWII Aerodrome not only still active but looked after which is a credit to this base.
